Slovak League of America Plaquette (1948)


This 3 inch bronze medal was struck by the Medallic Art Company in 1948.  The medal is in the shape of a semicircle with a rectangular base.  It was sold at auction in June 2008 for $52.90.  The auction catalog describes it as follows:

Obv: Slovakian eagle with Slovak and American shields superimposed on its breast.  Riband below inscribed: FREEDOM LIB AND ZATUNASU SLOVENCINU. Rx: SLOVAK LEAGUE OF AMRICA around cross over radiant sun. Cartouche below inscribed: FOR DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDED TO.
